This vision reflects priorities for the community. Just as residents shared their ideas to build the vision, so too realizing the vision depends on broad community involvement. Institutions and organizations have weighed decisions regarding the allocation of precious resources based on these priorities. Businesses will ponder how to incorporate the priorities into their plans and investments. Individuals will consider the priorities as they make contributions of time and money.
To encourage them and to keep the vision alive, a new Community Visioning Committee, composed of local leaders, has been charged with sponsoring town hall meetings, monitoring progress, reporting back to the community, and at some point in the future, calling for the creation of a new vision. Working committees are focused on specific implementation strategies for the priorities.
By then the community will have changed. Residents will enjoy more and better job opportunities. They will have additional ways to spend their leisure time. Many will take advantage of the numerous new amenities along the river. Some will be serving in innovative leadership roles. The “Worldwide Opportunities” will prove far greater, but the “Hometown Feel” will be just the same.
